A leading energy trading business are searching for an Energy Trader to join the front office team to trade and optimise on short term market positions across the capacity market.

The role offers the option to work remotely for those in need of work-life balance and alternatively the option to work onsite at their head office in Edinburgh.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute intraday trading strategies for gas and power commodities, leveraging market insights and data analysis to maximize profitability.
• Monitor real-time market conditions, identifying and capitalizing on trading opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including risk management, analytics, and research to develop and refine trading strategies.
• Manage portfolio risk by effectively hedging positions and adapting strategies to changing market dynamics.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and geopolitical factors that impact energy markets.
• Participate in shift-based trading schedules to ensure continuous coverage of trading activities.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as in Gas and Electricity trading with a deep understanding of UK energy markets.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
• Proficiency in utilizing trading platforms and software for real-time trading activities.
• Knowledge of Uniform Network Code and REMIT regulation
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
• A track record of successful trading strategies and consistent profitability.
