Trademark Attorney (1-3 Years PQE)

We are seeking a talented and motivated Trademark Attorney with 1-3 years of fully qualified experience to join a prestigious law firm. As a Trademark Attorney, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice and guidance on trademark matters to clients. The successful candidate must be admitted to the bar of England & Wales, possess a strong educational background, and be fully chartered as a trademark attorney.
Responsibilities:
- Trademark Portfolio Management: Manage and oversee the trademark portfolios of clients, including conducting searches, filing applications, and monitoring registrations.
- Trademark Clearance: Conduct comprehensive clearance searches to assess the availability and registrability of proposed trademarks.
- Prosecution and Registration: Prepare and file trademark applications, respond to office actions, and handle all aspects of the trademark prosecution process.
- Trademark Opposition and Litigation: Assist in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings, including drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, and providing strategic advice.
- Trademark Enforcement: Advise clients on trademark enforcement strategies, including sending cease and desist letters, initiating opposition proceedings, and handling infringement disputes.
- Client Counseling: Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on all aspects of trademark law, including trademark selection, protection, and enforcement.
- Intellectual Property Due Diligence: Assist with intellectual property due diligence in corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and licensing deals.
- Trademark Portfolio Audits: Conduct audits of clients’ trademark portfolios to identify potential issues, risks, and opportunities for optimization.
- Intellectual Property Education and Training: Conduct internal and external training sessions to educate clients and colleagues on trademark law and best practices.
- Stay Updated: Stay abreast of the latest developments and trends in trademark law, including changes in legislation, case law, and international treaties.
Qualifications:
- Admitted to the bar of England & Wales with a valid practicing certificate.
- 1-3 years of fully qualified experience as a Trademark Attorney.
- Fully chartered as a trademark attorney with a recognized professional body.
- Strong educational background, preferably with a degree in law or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of trademark law, regulations, and procedures in the United Kingdom.
- Familiarity with international trademark systems and experience in handling global trademark portfolios would be an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, research, and drafting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively communicate complex legal concepts to clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in relevant trademark database search tools and legal research platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
