Global Energy Trading Business
We’re working with an energy trading business seeking an experienced natural gas contracts specialist. The role sits close to commercial activity, helping trading teams agree, execute and manage contracts while identifying contractual risk before it becomes an issue.
You will take ownership of natural gas agreements from negotiation through execution. Alongside your own portfolio of work, you will help less experienced colleagues build their capability in trade confirmations and more complex agreements.
The Role
- Draft and negotiate NAESB agreements, natural gas purchase and sale contracts, and transportation and storage agreements.
- Review trade confirmations for accuracy and resolve discrepancies with the relevant teams.
- Work with trading, credit and legal colleagues to move agreements through approval and execution.
- Identify contractual risks and offer practical solutions that support commercial decisions.
- Improve contracts processes and provide guidance to colleagues developing their technical skills.
What we’re looking for:
- At least five years’ experience working with natural gas contracts, including substantial hands-on NAESB and gas confirmation experience.
- A sound understanding of physical gas trading and the agreements used for transportation and storage.
- The confidence to negotiate independently and manage several live matters at once.
- Strong attention to detail, commercial judgement and clear communication.
- Experience mentoring colleagues would be valuable. Familiarity with ISDA documentation would also be useful, but is not essential.
